To Stan Arney:I have been working on the Arney family since the 1950's. My fourth great grandfather was Henry Arney 1755-1830, son of Jacob Arney and Anna Ursula Kron of York County Pennsylvania. I too once thought that Jacob was a son of Frederick Earney of Berks County, but if you check the Pennsyvania Archives 3rd Series carefullY, you will find that Frederick did indeed have a son Jacob, WHO DIED ABOUT 1780 IN PENNSYLVANIA. HIS WIFE'S NAME WAS BARBARA. THIS MEANS HE WAS NOT THE JACOB ARNEY WHO WAS OUR ANCESTOR, AND WHO LATER REMOVED TO LINCOLN COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA AND MARRIED AN ELIZABETH (PERHAPS HALL) AFTER HIS FIRST WIFE ANNA URSULA DIED IN THE 1760S. ANNA URSULA WAS A DAUGHTER OF LORENZ KRON (THAT'S HOW THE NAME LORENZ GOT INTO THE ARNEY FAMILY) AND ANNNA URSULA BENDER. ANOTHER OF THEIR DAUGHTERS, ELIZABETH, MARRIED WERNER SPAINHOWER, A LONG TIME ASSOCIATE OF THE ARNEY FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AND LATER IN NORTH CAROLINA. THIS ELIZABETH KRON HAS BEEN INCORRECTLY IDENTIFIED AS ELIZABETH LOHNER FOR MANY YEARS, BUT A RECENT SEARCH IN THE MORAVIAN ARCHIVES SHOWS HER MAIDEN NAME WAS KRON, NOT LOHNER. The name of the father of our Jacob Arney(died 1784) is not now known. Nonetheless the Frederick Earney myth still continues to exist and be propagated falsely in Arney family trees. I know. I was the first one to make that mistake back in the 1950's.
