Most of the mentioned folks in your reply are familiar to me, they are a line of Philadelphia/New Jersey Arneys, Quakers mostly. See my forum post from long ago titled "RE: Arney-Haines liason" for some background on that line, (a couple of those names), done by a distant cousin of mine. He was on site, to see these docs or recordings, so I trust his work. And, this family has been researched by others, so you could find more online, I'm sure.
Honestly, due to researching my maternal line back to the earliest known ancestor in 1640 in the Conneticutt colony of Hartford, I'm totally open as to the ethnic background and my original Arney immigrant turning out to be something surprising.
I'm of the mind to think that the only possible records available that haven't been discovered so far, are likely to be in German, requiring translation. Or, in the European records, from some point of travel origin. Argh.
