Re: William ARNOT(T) born 1827 Dysart Fife - founder ARNOTT'S BISCUITS AUSTRALIA
William ARNOT(T), the 1865 founder of Arnott’s Biscuits Australia, emigrated to Australia in 1847 with his younger brother David to join their parents David Millie ARNOT(T) and Isabella ARNOT(T) (nee SMITH) with 4 siblings who had earlier travelled to NSW.
Consistent with Scottish naming tradition, William had been named after his g/father William ARNOT born 1786 Dysart and who had married.1805 Dysart to Euphemia IMRIE with only one child from the marriage (David Millie ARNOT as above).
Euphemia ARNOT (nee IMRIE) spouse of g/father William ARNOT, bleacher & feuar in Dysart, died 23 June 1828 Dysart aged 44 yrs and is buried in the Pathhead Feuars Burial Ground Dysart.G/father William ARNOT remarried 1 Dec 1828 Dysart to Elizabeth FORBES dau of William FORBES (baker in Dysart) and research to date shows only 1 child (James ARNOT born 22 Dec 1829 Dysart) from g/father William’s 2nd marriage.
All research to date has not given me any Scottish Census or Death record, later than 1829, for g/father William ARNOT and his 2nd marriage family of Elizabeth and James. Most certainly they did not emigrate to Australia and if any lister orresearcher of this ARNOT(T) family has knowledge concerning death detail etc of g/father William ARNOT in Scotland or elsewhere, our Australian family would be appreciative to have this family record.
