Re: Pronunciation of Ascough

I am researching Ascough's & ours is pronounced as cough as in coughs & colds,but other Ascoughs who are connected to my husband but down other lines that i've made contact with say they pronounce it Asco.
An American lady who I correspond with says her ancestors were Acuff but says they were Ascough earlier.
So maybe we'll never know
