Ashabranner's in SE Missouri & NE Arkansas
I've been trying without luck to identify the Thomas Ramsey who married Catharine Ashabran in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, on 4 June 1826. I believe Thomas Ramsey's bride actually was an Ashabranner.
During my search, I've run across quite a bit of information about clusters of Ashabranner's in southwestern North Carolina, southeastern Missouri, northeastern Arkansas, southern Indiana, middle Tennessee, and eastern Texas, all of whom appear to me to be descendants of Urban Ashabranner Sr. (1703-1795).
As I've searched for Catharine Ashabran, I've stumbled across individuals -- many of them Ashabranner's -- with surnames spelled or misspelled as: Asbraner, Aschbrenner, Aschebrenner, Aschenbrand, Aschenbrener, Aschenbrenna, Aschenbrenner, Aschenbrunner, Aschernbrenner, Aserbranner, Ashabarner, Ashabramer, Ashabran, Ashabranah, Ashabrand, Ashabraner, Ashabranna, Ashabrannah, Ashabranne, Ashabranner, Ashabrannon, Ashabrenner, Ashabrany, Ashabrauner, Ashabriner, Ashabrun, Ashanbraner, Ashbarner, Ashbramer, Ashbranah, Ashbrand, Ashbraner, Ashbranner, Ashbrener, Ashbriner, Ashbrun, Ashebraner, Ashebrann, Ashebrauer, Ashebrenner, Ashehanner, Ashembraner, Ashenbraner, Ashenbrenner, Asherbraner, Asherbranner, Asherbranes, Asherbrenner, Asherbriner, Asherbrowner, Asherbruner, Ashorahan, Ashoranah, Ashtruner, Ashybrauer, Eishenbrenner, Eschenbrenner, Eshenbrenner, and Eshybrauer.
To help in my search, can anyone identify the parents of these Ashabranner men? They appear to have been living in northeast Arkansas before the Civil War.
1. Absalom Ashabranner.
2. Missouri-born Emanuel B. Ashabranner. I've also seen him listed as Emanuel B. Ashabran and Emanuel Asherbranner. He was married to Illinois-born Ellen Walker.
3. Esaias Ashabranner.
4. Missouri-born Hezekiah Ashabranner. I've also seen him listed as Hezekiah Ashabran and Ezekial Ashabranner. He may have been married to Frances/Fannie/Fanny Bollinger.
Given their Biblical names, were Absalom, Emanuel, Esaias, and Hezekiah brothers?
Could they have been sons of Urban Ashabranner III and Barbara (Bollinger) Ashabranner? That couple may have moved from southeast Missouri to northeast Arkansas around 1820. I haven't seen names of any children they had, if they did indeed have children.
Could Thomas Ramsey's bride have been a widowed Catherine (Bollinger) Asherbranner? There was at least one report that Thomas Ramsey and Catharine (Ashabran) Ramsey moved to northeast Arkansas after they married.
I'd be glad to compare Ashabranner notes with anyone interested in that family.
