There was a Thomas ASHBY chr.13 Aug 1746 in Mayfield, East Sussex, buried 5 Sep 1819 in Frant, East Sussex, England.

He may have been Thomas Ashby who purchased an 800 year lease at £450 per annum from the estate of Susannah Latter (widow)
and may have had son, William Ashby of Frant who m.1798 to another Susanna Latter, possibly g-dau of the above.

A James Latter of Frant m. 3 July 1729 Susanna Booker (Beaker / Beeker / Beecher / Baker) of Frant.

Bartley farm and Verridge were owned by the Abbey of Bayham but appear to have been separated at the Dissolution. They were in the same hands when they were owned by the Barhams of Great Shoesmiths, next to Bartley Watermill.

When the Eagles, the heirs of this branch of the family sold their estates, Bartley Watermill was purchased by the Ashby family and it was the heirs of Thomas Ashby who sold the property in 1801 but Thomas (1802), then William Ashby (1803/4/5) and John (1806) remained as occupiers.

Would there be any documents in archives or private papers, of the Eagles family, regarding the sale of Bartley watermill to Thomas Ashby ?

Would there be any documents in archives or private papers,
of the Latter family, regarding the sale of a lease by
Susanna Sales / Sale (formerly Latter) nee Beecher /Booker /Beaker / Beeker / Baker) to Thomas Ashby of the Bartley watermill, Parish of Frant, Sussex, England ?

Thankyou.
