I am trying to trace my relatives in Lancashire,Unfortunately I only have very little vague information about them. My grandad was called Richard Ashcroft and he was born around 1905 in the Wigan area,We think it might be possible that his mothers maiden name was Baxter, although we can't be certain. He had 13 brothers and sisters and we think that when my grandad died in 1989 he was the last surviving child. He had a sister who died in the early 1970s(73 or 74?) and his last(and younger sister?)died within a year of her,One of them were called Alice. My grandad also said he left school at 13 to work in a coal mine and later a cotton mill,Then during the Depression he left Lancashire to find work in the South with a friend. He found work building roads in Leicester, but we dont know if he came down with the road construction company or if he found work when he was down here. He married a Leicester woman called Lillian Pickering and had five children.
I know that this is very sketchey information and that it will be a miracle if anyone recognises any of this info,But since my Grandad died and rarely even spoke about his past it is our only way of finding something out about him. So any help anyone can give me in tracing his relatives would be fantastic
