Margaret Ashcroft, b1851 England, emigra

Trying to trace a Margaret Ashcroft born 1851 in England, emigrated with the rest of the family to America. The rest gave up, but she stayed.
I have looked in the obvious places but she doen't appear. Any ideas about how to progress would be gratefully received
