Dear Sonia Many thanks for your continued interest and suggestions. The two records for 1749 puzzle me. Previously James Ashmead (m.Ann) bapt.23.1.1671 Somerford Keynes, their son, Christopher bapt 1690 Somerford Keynes and his son, James Ashmead bapt Bisley 1728. So to what does the date 1749 refer? My gggg grandparents James Ashmead (m. Hannah Turner) married Stonehouse 1763. All the above places mentioned are within 10 miles radius of Bisley (Glos). Back to the old question, is James of Bisley also James of Stonehouse? Some time ago I established 15 James Ashmeads betweem 1665 and 1793 on the IGI. The only other James which would perhaps fit, is James of Daglingworth but would mean he married at 45 years old.I thought a bit old as he was christened 1718. My James was father of Peter and Phoebe. She died a young woman.Peter moved to Bristol and started the successful Bristol Ashmead clan. I hope you have been enjoying the lovely weather , as we have down here. Barrie.
