James Ashmore
I recently began researching my wife's family.
I'm trying to determine if there are two James Ashmores in the 18th century, and whether some researchers have merged to two men's identities.
The notes my wife have describe James Ashmore (1732-1802; born and died in Harford Co., MD. Married to Elizabeth Balch (b. 1740, also in Harford Co., MD). Seven children: Samuel A., Hezekiah, Margaret, Rhoda, William, Hannah, and James.
Then I have found references to James Ashmore (1742-?; born in Harford Co., MD and died in Chatham, NC after living in Washington Co., NC, Greene County, and Logan Co., KY.) The wife is identified as Elizabeth Balch. The second family record identifies 11 children: Hezekiah, Joshua, Rhoda, Margaret, James, Samuel C., William, Amos, Hannah, Ann, and Elizebath.
Does anyone have any clarification?
