David Rice Atchison
David R. Atchison was the first mason and Missouri President of the United States for just one day on March 4, 1849.He along with Alexander Doniphan, both Missouri Legislators, worked to get the Mormons of the 1830's a county of their own-Caldwell, County.Later the Mormons were forced to leave under pressure from the Governors (BOGGS) infamous Extermination Order, dated Oct. 27, 1838.They moved on to Navuoo, Ill., then in 1847 to SLC, Utah with Brigham Young.
