I have a small booklet "Stone Houses on Linville Creek and their Communities" by Agnes Kline.I believe I purchased it at the library in Dayton, Virginia, where the records of the HRHS (Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co. Historical Society) are housed. It is a great library and I recommend it for research and books available for purchase.
There is a picture of "The Bryan Place" which states - "This stone house has been called the Atchison Place, because it was owned for many years by Thomas Atchison and his heirs.Several decades ago it was bought by Oliver Showalter...The capstone on the northwest chimney reads: 1850 J A.During Mr. Atchison's ownership the farm contained seven or eight hundred acres."
It is located on "the old Indian trail, northwest of Edom.
There is no further information on the Atchison family.
