The Long family in Oklahoma is on the Dawes Indian Rolls. Rev. Robert Houston Long was my ggrandfather. His parents were Maples Long & Mahala Atchley Long. Her mother's maiden name was "Chambers" and that is where the Cherokee Indian Decent came from for us. Mahala wrote and signed a letter for her son, Rev.Robert to present to the Dawes Commission. She states that she was 1/4 Cherokee by blood.I have a copy of the letter. He and my Grandfather, Rev. Isaiah Henry Maples Long signed the Dawes and received their roll numbers. The Rolls were opened in 1896 and closed in 1906, you had to be living in I.T. Oklahoma, and prove your blood line. I hope this helps w/questions & I would be happy to share any information on my line from the Long/Atchley families.
