Have you had any luck? There is a little in "Maud Horn's Atchley Family Book" that might be clues for you, but no direct hard facts. There was a set of five Atchley Brothers: Thomas, Daniel, Joseph, Martin, and Abraham, born 1750's, which family emigrated from NJ via Loudoun Co., VA to Eastern TN in the 1780's."All these....were strict Baptist except Joseph, who was afraid of much water joined the Methodist."Thomas was my GGGGgrandfather. From the Atchley Family Book, p. 213:"The earliest known record of the Meigs County (TN) branch is that of Thomas Atchley, believed to have been a son of....Martin Atchley. He married a woman doctor of medicine, Dr. Nancy E. Vernon....lived....north of Decatur, Meigs County."Six of their children are listedincluding "George Washington Atchley, who died in Meigs County. He was nicknamed "Uncle Watt".Two of the other children died in Missouri. This GWA would have been born in the 1810's and he died in TN, so is a generation earlier than yours. However, the name was in the family at about the right time and there was movement westward.I'm afraid I don't have anything beyond that.
