With sadness I send the obituary of Mr. Aten. My aunt of Mason, Michigan sent this on to me and I believe it was taken from a morning Lansing, Michigan newspaper.Billie greatly helped me trying to make a connection between our Tecumseh, Michigan Atens. We never did make the connection.
Aten, Billie A., Lansing, Mi. Age 77, passed away unexpectedly June 12, 2002. Born July 1, 1924 in Lansing, MI the son of Grover and Mable Aten.Mr Aten served in WWII with the U. S. Army Air Corps as a Cryptography Technician.He retired in 1986 from Motor Wheel as a Data Processing Supervisor after 37 years of service.He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.He was an avid stamp and coin collector.He had done extensive research in his family history and had traced his genealogy back to the 1400"s.He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Munlee Cranson.Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mary M. Aten;3 children, Tracie Harris, Gary (Susan) Aten, and Keith (Jenelle) Aten;9 grandchildren, Kimberly (David), Kari (Jason), Jason, Andrew, Eric, Casey, Kyle, Kelli and Jozlyn;2 great-grandsons,David and Hunter; and mother-in-law, Edna Cranson.Visitation is from 6-8 PM Thursday (today) with services at 2 PM Friday, June 14, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, with Rev. John V. Folkers presiding.Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge.Contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society.
