Gayle responded to my ? in the Van Voorhees Genforum # 17
Her husband was James Voorhees b. 1744. The Van Voorhees Family in America has them on page 771. It says he m. Mary Aten dau. of Paul Aten and Marytje VanNest. He died 19 June 1830 and is buried at Old Bedminster Cem., Somerset Co., NJ It mentions the will of Paul Aten of Bedminster dtd 19 May 1766 and probated 17 June 1782. However, the book also says "There is no evidence to show that Mary Van Aten married a James Voorhees. A James Voorhees b. 1744 died 19 June 1830 and is buried in the same cemetery as Paul Voorhees and his wife (Old Bedminister Cem). The Van Voorhees website is http://www.vanvoorhees.org/http://www.vanvoorhees.org/
Gayle added a P.S. regarding James and Paul
"I should have turned the page! The Paul referred to (in that last sentence) is not Paul Aten but supposedly James' son Paul Voorhees b. 7 Jul 1760, d. 14 March 1843 age 82."
The birth date of 1760, for Paul Van Voorhees, fits the1766 Will, for having a grandson, Paul, for Powel Aten's Will...then Paul Van Voorhees would have been @6 yrs old.
