Thomas Aten, born in 1710, is reported to be the son of Thomas Aten and Elsje Skillman. However, looking over the baptisms of Thomas (1710) and his second wife, Hilletje Van Arsdalen, there appears to be no daughter named Elsje. Also, the first born son of both of his marriages is Pouwel. The second one was born in 1738 and obviously the first Pouwel had previously died.
This leads me to believe that Thomas, born in 1710, was really a son of a Pouwle Aten, which is based on the Dutch custom of naming children. True, he did have a son named Thomas (born 1744), but he was not his first born son.
