I am researching Margaret Atherton b. 1742 who m. William Henry Lee in 1760 he was b. 1740 in New Jersey and d. 1828 in Hamilton County, Ohio. I still haven't figured out if Aaron Atherton Sr. is a brother or father of Margaret, but 2 of Margaret and William's sons married 2 of Aaron Atherton Sr.s daughters. Not unusual for that time. The story I have is William Lee and Aaron Atherton sr. after fighting on the western front with other Atherton's and Lee's. They served in the Maryland Militia in Washington County, Maryland, they took the oath of fidelity Jan 27, 1776 and served until 1778. They lived on the Potomac river in Washington County, MD. William and Aaron traveled back to Maryland to pick up their wives and children and traveled the Wilderness Road to KY. Aaron Atherton Sr. was m. to Nancy Runyon, she was a daughter of Stout Runyon. Aaron and Nancy had Aaron Jr., Benjamin, who md. a VanWinkle, Nancy and Eunice Atherton, they m. the Lee boys, Samuel and Abraham, there were other children but I can't recall them. In 1780 William Lee and Aaron Atherton Sr. were at Goodins Station near Old Boston, KY on the road that leads to the Falls of the Ohio river which later became Louisville. About 1801 Aaron Atherton Sr and a small group crossed the river into Ohio and settled around Hamilton County which is where Aaron Sr. and William Lee died. I remember a story that a Peter Atherton owned a ferry that took people across the river, there was an Atherton that was a distiller and Athertonville, Ky is named after some of them and that there are still Atherton's in the area. I have never heard of Diana but thought if I gave you some other details of what I know about Aaron Atherton Sr. it would help you because I don't know how he is related to my Margaret but I know he is.
