The Moses Atherton that married Deliliah Burrows on 13 May 1830 in Hickman Co., KY was undoubtedly the son of the Moses Atherton born between 1780 and 1790 listed in the 1830 US census for that county. The latter Moses had two males living with his family between fifteen and twenty. As further proof, Canada Atherton m. Elender Borough 18 Mar 1830 and Howard Atherton m. Mary Harris Haws 23 Dec 1830, both marriages occurred in Hickman Co. In 1830, Samuel Haws with two daughters fifteen to twenty was living not far from the latter Moses. In the 1850 US census for Ballard Co., KY, which came from Hickman Co., a C. Atherton and wife E., are living next to D. Atherton, female, with three children, and they are living next to H. Atherton and perhaps second wife S. Further proof comes with the 1860 U.S. census. The latter Moses married Nancy Biggerstaff or Bickerstaff and his father or grandfather was probably John Atherton who did public service in the Revolutionary War in Maryland. The latter Moses is not the one that married Rachael Skaggs. I have more information if you care to contact me.
