This book is a special centennial edition of the history written by Thomas Clark ATKESON in April 1900. It will feature the complete text of the 1900 history, plus annotations which will provide updates to many of his speculations. At least two new family lines have been linked as well as many descendants and ancestors. This is a special limited edition which is being produced as a permanent 100th anniversary keepsake of the ATKESON/ATKINSON history. The original, which many generations have grown up reading, has been handed down in typewritten form only. It should be noted, however, that this commemorative book will not be an exhaustive genealogy of the family. A more ambitious and encyclopedic text is currently in planning for a couple of years down the road. The text for this special edition is written as family history with many eyewitness accounts and stories not found elsewhere. It recounts the ATKESON/ATKINSON family as they help settle the Greenbrier/Kanawha/Putnam County, VA now WV, areas and the Gallia County, OH, area along the Ohio River. It will have a special binding which sets it apart from most genealogical imprints.
If you would like more information or would like to see if your family links with this one, please contact me on this forum or at my email address, BriDConley@aol.com. I am also accepting information for inclusion in this book, the upcoming larger book and a new website which will be coming in March 2000.
