I am trying to gather up info. on my Gr.-Grandparents Atkins and McKagen lines. My Gr.-Grandmother was Marion "Marie" Atkins b.1889 in SC. She had 3 sisters Thelma, Inez and Corinne. Their parents were Goerge P. Atkins(Maysvile,SC 1880-1900) and Anna Laura Childress(poss. b. in KY)Anna Laura died while giving birth to Corinne in KY. After her death the remaining family moved to SC where I think Marie met her husband George McKagen. They had 2 children, Anna Laura McKagen b.1908 and Francis Marion McKagen b.1915. Francis was killed in France during WW2 in 1944 and is buried there. I have traced the Atkins line back to the mid to late 1700's where my 5th or 6th Gr.Grandfather Nicholas from Wake Co.,NC lived. his son's were Archibald and John. Archibald had a son James Elbert and he had George P. Atkins(above), I think? There was a George Preston Atkins too but I'm not sure if he is the same as George P. or his father. I have nothing on the McKagen line except for the aforementioned and that he (George McKagen)divorced my Gr.Grandmother poss. in the 1930's or 40's. I am unable to confirm this. I Would also like to confirm the parentage of Nicholas Atkins. He was a soldier in the Amer. Revolution 1780-81.,out of Wake County,NC in the Militia. he was a Juror,Patroler and Landowner. he aquired some land from a James Atkins (a close relation) and had many brothers and sisters. I think his parents were John Atkins d.1792 and Elizabeth Atkins d.1803. It may have been that after his mothers death and since his father was also deceased that some of the young children may have come to live with him. This is only speculation on my part as I cannot confirm his parents or that he had siblings. Can anyone cofirm this? Needing help, hope someone can.
