Any one know where William Walthall of VA came from? Here is a record dated 1657. My first Akin (Ekin) family member is listed. Any thoughts. Upon N. side of Appamattock Riv. in Bristol Parish. 550 Acs. lying next above the land now in possession of Thomas Lyne, running W. N. W. &c., & E. S. E. on the Swift Cr; 250 acs. lyeth on the head of sd. tract of 550 acs; 850 acs. adj. said 250 acs., running N. W. thence N. E. on Ashen Swamp . 750 acs. by purchase from Mr. John Baugh and 850 acs. For trans. of 17 per: Wm. Walthall, Anne Hughs, Joane Watts, Rob. Plaine, Geo. Dice, Ed. Markham, JAM. EKIN, Gab. Bolton, Edwd Craford, Richd. Jamson, Joseph Parsons, Marg Heines, Eliz. Thomas, Hamond Woodhouse, Edw. Atkins, Alice and Willm. Irish persons. Renewed 18 Mar. 1662." It is my opinion that all except the last two are from the lowlands of Scotland about the border with England. I suggest they set sail from Glasgow. Insights and thoughts welcomed.
