I am desperately trying to figure out a lineage line for an Edward ATKINS, son of George W., son of Joseph C. ATKINS and Lucy _____ all of Gardiner, Kennebec Co., Maine.
In an effort to do so, I started at the beginning of the census' 1790, and in 1790 Pownalborough, Lincoln Co., Maine Alexander, James and George ATKINS all lived there. I think James may be the one who ended up Hallowell, Kennebec Co., ME.Then there was a Ansyl Atkins living near James Atkins in Hallowell in one of the early census' I viewed.
Ancestry had no listing for Alexander or George in the 1790 Index, and this is the case for a LOT of names I tried to research there.Sometimes I am lucky and find them by accident.
If anyone can help fill in some blanks with a lineage line on Edward > George W. > Joseph C. ATKINS (was age 57 in the 1850 Gardiner, ME census, so he was born around c1793...he might have been a son of the James from Hallowell)and his wife Lucy _____, I sure would be most greatful.
