THE AUDUBON GENEALOGY
Hi! My name is Walter Audubon. I'm a GGG grandson of J.J. Audubon, through his second son, John Woodhouse Audubon. I have written a book about the descendency because it was a secret for many years, as a result of the fact my grandfather was born out of wedlock to Benjamin Phillips Audubon and a woman named Margaret J. Baldwin in 1876. Details and documents are in the small book I wrote a few years ago. My sole interest is in my Audubon line and my great grandmother, Margaret Baldwin, about whom little is known. She is listed in the 1870 Census, living with a Fred Baldwin from a large L.I. Baldwin family. However there is no record of their having married. There is some evidence that she was born ca. 1840 somewhere in upstate New York State; but I have been unable to confirm exactly where. She is listed in the NYC directories as operating a second-hand lumber business in the 1870s, but other than my grandfather's birth and baptismal certificates there is little else. If anyone has any information about this I would be glad to hear from him/her, and there is a substantial reward for useful information. Thanks.
