Spanish or French roots ?
Depending on how people with this surname have been pronouncing it over the generations, AULMOND may just be another variant of "aleman" (ah-lay-MAHN) which is Spanish or French (now "allemand") for "German". When the "l" was pronounced, ALLMAN or ALLMAND became common English forms of this name. When the "l" sound was silent, it may have derived from something like French "amand" (almond) or perhaps "au mont" (oh-MON) "in the mountain[s]" which makes it a geographic surname.
