Is Aurin same family as Oran?
In East Tennessee (Morgan and Roane counties) around 1900, there are the Aurin's (decendants of G.W. Aurin, Civil War veteran). But the name sort of disappears at that time except for some in Knox County.
At about the same time the name Oran starts showing up in the Roane and Morgan County areas.Which makes me wonder if the Oran's are related, but using a phonetic spelling of the German name, Aurin.
Does anyone know anything that could shed any light on these two names?
Thanks,
Phil
