EARLY FINCASTLE RECORDS IN WISCONSIN!
I have found out that the majority of surviving early Fincastle records were taken in the 1850's by a Professor from the University of Wisconsin at Madison when he came to Christiansburg. His name was Lyman Draper and he was there researching the Draper family and they let him take as many of the Fincastle records as he wanted back to Wisconsin. They are still there among his things at the University and have been called the "Draper Manuscripts". Since those records pertain to Virginia families I think the University of Wisconsin should have the decency to return them to the courthouse in Christiansburg (Montgomery County from where they were taken) or to the courthouse in Botetourt County, in which Fincastle is now located!!! I know I cannot travel to Wisconsin to view them. Neither could most people that went to Virginia in search of ancestors and most people wouldn't have a clue what happened to them.
