David Austin of Franklin,TN & Fort Bend,TX
The War of 1812 Pension records for David Austin, Pvt. Capt. Russell's Co. of Spies TN Vols shows that he was born about 1791-1799 in TN and lived in Warren & Franklin Co, TN until about 1833. He then lived in AL for about a year before he traveled to Texas to join the Army of the Republic in 1834-1835. He got bounty land for his service and was a farmer of a (small) 360 acre farm until he di8ed 22 May 1859 in Richmond, Fort Bend County, TX.
David must have married in TN about 1824, after the Creek War because he is listed on the Franklin Co, TN U. S. Census of 1830 with a wife age 30-40, a son age 5-10, a son age 10-20, a daughter age 5-10 and a daughter under the age of 5.What was her name.
David was discharged from the TX army 14 Dec 1835. David married the second time in Fort Bend, TX 1836 (testimony) or 1 Nov 1837 (court record) to a Mary Grant at the home of a John H. Pickens who may or may not be related to Mary.
The 1850 U. S. Census of Richmond, Fort Bend, TX has David, his wife Mary and a son George B. Austin born 1835 in TX, and a dau Ann Austin born 1838 in TX.
I want to know about this family and their ancestry but am having problems finding records to link David with any other TN families!
