In the early 1970's Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) built a dam on the Elk River in Franklin County, Tennessee. There was a town called AWALT and some parts of the town (buildings) were moved. Then the town was flooded when Tims Ford Lake was formed.
The graves from the Awalt Cemetery were moved to New Center Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Franklin County, Tennessee.
In the Cemetery Book for Franklin County, Tennessee the following is written:

NEW CENTER GROVE CHURCH OF CHRIST CEMETERY
Many graves here were moved from the old Center Grove Church site when Woods Reservoir was formed ca 1951 by the U. S. Corps of Engineers. In ca 1971, a large number of graves were also moved here from the old Awalt Cemetery when the Tim's Ford Reservoir was impounded by T.V.A., a wrought iron gateway sign on the left front side of the cemetery says "New Awalt Cemetery."At the far back corner of the cemetery, some distance from the other graves are about ten other graves some of which have removal markers stating they were moved from Simpson Cemetery.
There is also a plague erected that says:
37 graves herein moved from the Center Grove Cemetery, 12 miles northeast of this site, in connection with construction of Elk River Reservoir, Arnold Engineering Development Center, Tullahoma, Tennessee.1951
