I have been researching the Dennett family whose daughter Elizabeth married Joseph Jaques in 1722 and I am a Jaques from them.However, through the Midhurst, Sussex Records, (not far from Gosport) the folloiwing:
01/05/1806 - by Licence. John Ayling bachelor from Stedham, Hampshire - farmer married Mary Dennett, spinster, Gentlewoman, 21 years.Witnesses: William Dennett & SW. Ayling.
Also:
18/12/1834 - by Licence. John Ayling bacjelor from Liss, Hampshire married Martha Mary Legatt Dennett, spinster.Witnesses: Jimmy J. Ayling; Mullens Dennett; Elizabeth Newman: Martha Frances Shotwodd and Sarah Gould.

The above villages are all within 40 miles of Gosport.
