Re: Thomas Bailes/Montgomery Co. Va.

Dear Susan I grew up in Both Nich. and Fayette Counties of W.Va.. My parents Families still live in Nich. Co.. Istarted doing the family tree 10 years ago when most of the older family members were still alive. I now have a large collection of deeds, wills, mar., birth, death and death records. I also prowled thru every cem. I could find. There are several not in the Nich. cem. book. I also went thru the Archives at Charleston. They gave me a list of all W.Va. counties and their dates of Formation. Nicholas was in 1818 from Greenbrier,Kanawha and Randolph Counties. I then went thru the records of all three. There are several other records for Thomas beginning about 1785 thru 90.These early survey records fit the land Thomas had in Nicholas Co.. My greatgrandfather was the last living son of John Bailes the 2nd. My mother and her brothers and sisters all believe that Thomas's wife Mary was a Mary (Leftridge) Bailes. My William also had a brother named Leftridge Bailes. Henceforth they used her maiden for a first name.
