Re: Thomas Bailes/Montgomery Co. Va.
Sarah & Susanna Bailes are sisters who married brothers. Susannah married Andrew Frame, and Sarah married David Frame. There is a file on the homepages in FamilyTreemaker which has them reversed. Susannah is also listed in Don Normans West Virginia Families as John & Mary Foster Bailes's daughter. If you look at all the census records you will find that John has 4 daughters listed and only 4 are listed in his will.Thomas Bailes Jr.married Mary Wison November 7, 1797 in Kanawha County W.Va. (Note in 1911 History of Kanawha County they spelled it Bulls and in the Early Marriages of Kanawha Co By the West VirginiaGenealogical Society they spelled it Thomas Berls) The old original records are old and faded and everyone has a differnt spelling. 2nd marriage for Thomas Bailes Jr. to Ellen Foster August 15, 1804 Kanawha County ( Note she is perhaps a Mary Ellen Foster.) Their are several branches of the Foster Family in Early W. Va. records. As for who the parents of Mary Wilson are that I can't say as I didn't look into it, because my Line is through Thomas Bailes Jr.'s brother John. A lot of the Kanawha County records are on line at Rootsweb & Genweb so you might look in to Taxpayers for the time period and look for any Wilson family in Kanawha County. If you look on Genweb and go to Nicholas County W.Va. you will find the website run my Bill Martin. I posted John Bailes 1st's will from Page 31 Nicholas Co. Willbook there so click on Wills to read John's will probated 1827. John & Mary (Foster) Bailes were buried at Gad Nicholas Co. When they built the Summersville Dam they moved all the graves to Dotson-Simpson Memorial Cemetery Keslers Cross Lanes Nicholas Co. John's tombstone reads John Bailes 1785 - 1826 Back of stone is written War 1812. Mary's stone reads Mary Foster Bailes 1790 - 1860. Helen Stinson several years ago did a Nicholas County Cemetery Book with this cemetery in it. She missed several old graves. She also made notes of who some of these people were she made a lot of mistakes on this which confuses many people.
