Ten years later - here's an answer to get you started:

Google Books has a title called:
"Scotland, the Caribbean and the Atlantic World, 1750-1820" by Douglas Hamilton. It explains how the Baillie's came to be in the Caribbean. Not just Jamaica, but also Grenada and other islands.
The Baillies also had a close relationship with Thomas Campbell, the poet, back in Scotland.Dr. Baillie wrote a book about him - I think it was the "Life and Letters..."The "West Indies" includes many islands, and also parts of South America such as Guyana - including Berbice & Demerara.Look there as well.
Some of these folks had a habit of taking on another name - sometimes STEWART, CAMPBELL, etc..So...you might start out looking for a BAILLIE, but have to see who they married, inherited from, etc..
