I haven't been able to find a reliable record on familysearch, of Alexander's birth, the only one being in 1860.
Try the best site for Scottish BMD data and Census data, scotlandspeople-
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.ukhttp://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
Credit/Debit card charge for online access; or use normal
mail etc.
For this site's full contents, see it Index-

To make progress, you should obtain at least Robert's Birth Certificate and the Parents' Marriage Certificate, as these will normally contain extra detail not available on the Web.
======================
There does not appear to be any associated Wills or Testaments on Scottishdocuments-

Useful Free Index; Credit/Debit Card charge for scanned copies.
but as you obtain more details, re-try this site.

You should also try the Ellis Island site for records of any of the Baillies entering the USA-
