Hi,
I truly appreciate your help in this matter. It has been one of my biggest headaches persay.I have NO dates on this Rachel. The only thing I had to go on was the name Rachel Baker that was listed on my Gr.Gr.Gr.grandfathers death certificate.I found John A. living in Fulton co.,IL census 1870 with 2 of his children still at home John and Sarah A. and a Mrs.Jane Palmerston was living in the house as a housekeeper. In the 1880 census in Fulton Co.,IL John A. and Jane were man and wife.I keep seeing in records that Jane is placed as the mother of these children and was not. They were married after children were grown up.I have not been able to locate John A. prior to 1870 as I no longer have access to census records but believe he was in Ohio as he was born there as well as kids.I also believe if Rachel is the mother than she must have passed on sometime between the birth of her son John who was born in 1855 and the 1870 census. Not much more to go on as far as an specifics on dates and location.I have been unsuccessful in searching Ohio for marriage, death and birth records as well as in Illinois. There is no record on Illinois State Archives for her and the cemetery records I recieved for Fulton county show no sign of her so.... thank you again,Julie
