Caleb Baker PA to VA

Caleb Baker II, Esq.
He was born in Lancaster County, PA in 1734 and died the tenth day of March 1824.His place of residence during the Revolution was Prince Edward County.He was the son of Caleb and Martha Baker.The first Caleb Baker was "of Amelia County, VA" according to his will written the 24th Nov 1750 and probated 29th April 1755 {was also probated in Prince Edward County, Va - Wills 1754-1784, p.3}He owned land along Spring Creek in Amelia.He often spelled his name "Beaker." Caleb I was granted two hundred acres of land on May 18th 1734 in that part of Chester, Penn. which was made into Lancaster Co. [Penn archives, sixth series, Vol. XIV, pg. 266.] before removing to AmeliaVA.At the time of his death Caleb Baker I owned 1070 acres of land and his dwelling place he left to his son, Caleb Baker II.

Caleb II was a Revolutionary War soldier, serving in the 1st Virginia Regiment.He was married to Catherine Hodnutt, the daughter of John Hodnutt, sometimes spelled Hadnett. Hodnutt was born in Ireland and died in Buckingham County, VA in 1799. Caleb and Catherine Baker reared ten children on the old Baker Plantation on Buffalo Creek.After Catherine's death (1804), he married in 1810, the widow of his cousin, Mrs. Andrew (Catherine) Baker.

Jones and Elizabeth Walker of Buckingham, VA.Sally and Arthur Jones settled near Tuscumbia, AL.Sally died in Al in 1828 and Arthur in 1836.They had at least 4 known children - some of who went into Fayette Co, TN. (John Walker Jones and Wiley Baker Jones)
