Regarding marriage of Temperance Baldwin to Nathan Birdsall and etc., I have a bit of info from a book called "Chips from off The Old Block," by Alfred Bradley Brown,The book, which is floating around somewhere in the family, was printed in 1926.It says: Nathan Birdsall (b.1611), son of Henry, married Temperance (or Temperence Baldwin) about 1640. Said Nathan was at New Haven, Conn., in 1643.On Dec. 27, 1659 sold land at Montauk L.I. and removed to Matinecock on Oyster Bay.In 1661 was one of seven to settle the town of Hempstead,L.I. On Feb 3 1666 bought 50 acres from Indians on Oyster Bay; he died about 1698. Their children were Benjamin, Stephen, Samuel William, Nathan, Nathaniel and Henry.Book says their sons Benjamin and Stephen bought 100 acres from the Indians at Oyster Bay, L.I., Feb 20 1684.Benjamin occupied land bought by his father in Hempstead L.I. in 1679 a place called new Brittain; recorded his "ear mark" February 8, 1688.
