Hi cousin,I just posted this message follow-up for someone else. I don't know if this will help, but here goes. My husband is the Great Grandson of: Samuel Peter Bales b. in Tn. married Rebecca Gunter b. near Galatia, Illinois Samuel Peter worked the railroad laying track, moved family near West Plains, Mo. Homesteaded at Moody, Mo. children: Stocia Alice Hannah Annie Andy King Walter b. 1891 d, 1969 m. Maude Robinson 1913 Florence
King Bales m. Leena Heinricks (?) We have a post card from him dated 1905 and another 1915 from Dodge City, Ks. King died in Long Pine (Ainsworth), Ne. But he ranched in Gillett, Wyoming for many years. Never had any children. Walter Bales farmed on the Rosebud Reservation for many years, lived in both Nebraska and South Dakota. Walter laid quite a few miles of road bed in southern South Dakota following World War 1. Walters son, Sylvan Deslar Bales b. 1914, d. 1994 always believed his mother was of the "Crow" Tribe of Native Americans. She was from Arkansas. We have a picture with no names or years on it, but it says Arkansas relatives...Also, a little gossip, Dad always told us that when he went as a child to visit near Moody, Missouri, that they had to be very careful while approaching the homestead. Reportedly they made moonshine. These may or may not be related, however, I thought with the history, it might give you other areas of exploration. ie: legal, tribal, etc.
