I am trying to find out more family information on my great uncle George BALFOUR of Victoria, B.C.
George is the brother to Joseph Alexander BALFOUR.Both Joe and George served with the 75th Bn, Canadian Expeditionary Force overseas in WW1.
George and his first wife, Aleen Wilson visited Mrs. Jennie/Jenny McRoberts in Belfast in the late 30's or early 40's. I do not know if their was a family relationship between the BALFOURs and the McROBERTS. (maybe between the WILSONs and the McROBERTS?)
GEORGE BALFOUR, son of John and Eleanour (LUNNEY) BALFOUR was born August 27, 1895 in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada, and died September 17, 1963 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He married (1) ALEEN WILSON March 17, 1921, daughter of UNKNOWN WILSON and EMMA BOYES. Aleen WILSON was born July 07, 1900 in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada, and died February 22, 1945 in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada. He married (2) LYLE BAGNELL Abt. 1944. She was born Abt. 1900, and died Abt. August 1968 in Victoria, BC, Canada.
GEORGE BALFOUR and ALEEN WILSON had two daughters, Leonora and Doreen.George and Lyle had no children, but Lyle had children (a son, Lorrie?) by a previous marriage to a PIERCE, PEARCE, or PEARSE (sp?).
George Balfour’s mother supposedly came from Belfast, Ireland but I do not know if she lived there. John Balfour, his wife Eleanour and their 1-year old son, John (Jack) immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada about 1887.
ELEANOR (ELLEN) LUNNEY ( daughter of JOHN and SUZANNAH LUNNEY) was born March 14, 1859 in Derry, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, and died January 29, 1927 in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada. She married JOHN BALFOUR Abt. 1876 in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, son of UNKNOWN BALFOUR. He was born Abt. 1853 in ,,, Ireland, and died Abt. 1928 in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada. JOHN BALFOUR was with the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC).ELEANOR LUNNEY and JOHN BALFOUR had 11 children (10 born in Canada).
Would appreciate any information on the families of the above names. Thanks.
