Balko's from Russia
I am a village coordinator for 14 German Russian villages in Russia (Ukraine). I have Balko's in one village I have worked on called Bobrowyj Kut. Bobrowyj Kut was within the Swedish Colonies in the Nikolajew Area of Russia. Before that they were from Rosental, Taurien Area of Russia. Rosental was founded in 1805 and was part of the Prischib Colonies.
I have almost all the Bobrowyj Kut records copied and I have them all typed up in a file. From about 1860-1885 I have all the birth and death records in some marriage records. Before 1860 there was no Lutheran's there.
All the records I am working on are Lutheran!!! I am the village coordinator for 13 villages in the Taurien Area but not Rosental. But I have seen their records.
Another area where Balko's may have been from the Taurien Area was the Kronau Colonies located in the Nikolajew Area of Russia in 1869/70. I have worked on records from here but can't say for sure if any Balko's were there.
I hope this info may help someone.
