Eliz. Ball (d c1784) md James THOMSON. NELSON, MIKELL
I did not ever receive any further information on this couple beyond that which is in this forum (from 2003-2005; do a search on THOMSON here; you will find my messages).
Has there been any development since those years that might show whether Col. James Thomson's son John was by this Elizabeth (as shown in the book "Bartholomew's Children: A Southern Ball Family" by Henry Ball)? The only copy I found of the book was difficult to read, so I'm not sure I got all the information.
The gist is that John's date of birth is unclear; he was listed in the 1810 census as between age 16 and 26. If he were 26 (born 1784), he could have been the son of Elizabeth. Her death date is listed as 1784 in the Bartholomew book and as 1785 in the book "Upper St. Peter's Parish" by Thomas Lawton. He could possibly have been age 25, born 1785, too.
Col. James Thomson remarried and had children by his second wife whose surname is uncertain (perhaps Bonnell).
Elizabeth's parents were Bartholomew Ball and Elizabeth Nelson; she had a sister Ann who married John MIKELL, b 1731 S.C.
Any information would be appreciated. (I'm aware that I'm not getting any younger!)
