Charles Bamford married Nancy Bean
Thankyou to everyone who replied to my posting of seeking the decendents of
the Bean an Quimby family who's bible I have. It records marriages, births,
deaths etc in the 1700's and 18'00's.Here is some more information on it.
It seems the family that owned this bibble was that of John Bean and Mary
Quimby married May 5th 1816.
John,s mother was most likely Eleanor Bean.Elinor Bean died in the early
mid 1800's.Her age in years and days is given in the bible along with her
date of death. This would let you work out her Birth day.She almost
lived for a hundred years. I suspect Elinor might have bean the mother of
the John Bean that married Mary Quimby as she was a bit old to be his
sister.
The John Bean family most likely settled in Mount Vernon, Maine.John
Bean's sister most likely married a Colbath.
Mary Quimby was most likely a decendent of Captain Aaron Quimby born July
22, 1733 in Kingston, New Hampshire.
On the Quimby side Mary Quimby would most likely be related to the Qumbys,
Larkin, Johnson, and Currier families among many others.
The bible most likely came north with a branch of the Family to the
Manitoulin Island area of Canada.I am a colecter of old books and
antiquities but am not a relative.I do not have any special attachment to this bible.I live in
Sudbury Canada and can be reached at [email protected]
In the bible I found a stamped piece of an envelope addressed to John E
Bean, Mt.Vernon, Maine.
There is a Bean Road near Mt. Vernon I found on the net. The letter is post
marked from Hydepark Mass 1898.This was in the Bible.
There are many family names, mostly Bean, mentioned in the Family Record in
this Bible. One Quimby is mentioned in the family record and a second
Quimby name is in a list of Birth Days on a separate piece of paper stuck
between the pages.A Polly Qimby and a Mary Quimby. It appears as if the
Mother of the family that owned this bible was Mary Quimby.TwoQuimby
birth dates are given in the 1700's and the date of a Mary's death (There
is a age problem with a birth date written that confuses the death date of
Mary.Perhaps there was 2 Mary Bean or more). Some other family names
are Robinson, McGaffey?, Woods, Bamford, Cuirren?, Thimball, Gillman?,and
Brown. The names come with dates of births, weddings, ages or deaths.
Any confirmation of the above would be apreciated. Please assist me by
spreading this message to interested parties on Bean and Quimby internet
pages or elsewhere.
Should this Bible go to the Bean or Quimby family???It certainetly would
allow someone to pass down a family airloom in which they could record a
message to there children's children’s children...etc..Perhaps for hundreds of years
or longer if the family continues on.I would prize such a gift if it were
passed down from my parents.
