Hi Allan,
There is a small town of population about 400 on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, called "Bamfield".This was named after a William Eddy Banfield who lived there from between 1850 and 1862, when he was drowned under mysterious circumstances. He is reported to have come from the Isles of Scilly but I have not been able to establish his parents yet although the evidence points to him being born in about 1822 in Scilly.
Anyone wanting, or having, more information on this one please contact me.
Regards,
Roger Banfield (Scilly)
