BANNER in St. Mary's Co. MD and Barnwell SC
I an interested in Peter BANNER of Barnwell, SC who died about 1800.
Did he migrate there from St. Mary's County MD?
Was his 1st wife Elizabeth WOOD, daugher of Samuel WOOD who died in ST. Mary's MD in 1758?
In his will, Peter Banner's wife is referred to as "Mary" so I don't know if she was Mary Elizabeth or if Mary was a 2nd wife.
Does nayone have a marriage record or records for him?
In his will, he lists 3 daughters, one was a Lydia BROADAY (Broadway?) and one was an Anna "SHUTE" who I believe to possibly be Anna SUIT or SUITE, the possible wife of James SUIT of St. Mary's Co. MD (He died about 1813).
I think Anna Shute/Suit's sister Lydia Banner Broaday may have had a son named Elkanah Broadey/Brauda.
If Anna was really Anna Suite, the possiblemother of William B. Suit and Samuel Suit of St. Mary's MD, it could answer why William B. Suit calls Elkanah Broadey his "couisn" in his 1826 will in St. Mary's County MD.
In 1820, Elkanah already lived in Barnwell SC if it is the same Elkanah Broadey.
Interrestingly, a man named Hanson Bennett of St. Mary's co MD is next to Banner in a cnesus (1810?) in Barnwell SC.
Then, a man named Benjamin Banner is next door to Benjamin Suite in the 1800 census of St. Mary's Co MD 4th election dist (assumed brother of James Suite). **If Benjamin SUIT is indeed James SUIT's brother, then Anna BANNER would've also been his mother as well.
Benjamin Banner who lived next door to Benjamin Suite/Suit in MD married a woman named Ann Davis in 1797 in St. Mary's.
James SUIT also lived next door to George Davis at taht time.
Does anyone have further information on Peter BANNER and which BANNER is the man Elizabeth Wood, daugher of Samuel Wood married in MD?
Elizabeth's sister Susannah Wood who married William SUIT were probably theparents of my James SUIT and if so, Susannah Wood (sister of Elizabeth Wood Banner) was grandmoter of William B. Suit and my ancestor Samuel Suit.
Confusingly, I think this says if Peter Banner was the husband of Elizabeth Wood, (not sure if she is the same woman as Mary??)-- Anna Banner and her possible husband James Suit may have been 1st cousins.
