Lander Barber of Va., Pa, and Ky

By genealogy.com user October 13, 1999 at 07:11:04

I havce searching for old Lander for over 20 years with little sucess.Maybe some one can solve this problem.Lander was born between 1750 and 1760.I have him in the Rev. War as a pvt who was born in Va. I also have his payroll record with George Rogers Clark at Ft. Pitt, Pa in 1775.He next shows up in the 1781 Washington Co., Pa tax records. Then in 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820 qnd 1830 he shows up on the census of Boubon Co., KY.His 1st som, John was born in Pa in 1787 and his 2nd son, Thomas was born in Ky in 1790.Lander remarried in 1810 in Clark Co., Ky to a Catherine Starr. He also had 5 daughters. When one his daughter married in 1811 a John Lander was the surety. It is possible that Landers given name was that of his mother or that he was indentured to the Landers and really had another given name. Anyone with info on him or ties of Barber and Landers surnames please solve this mystery for me.If anyone needs info on Barbers of or people whio married into the Barber family in Eastern Ky ;let me know.
