I have my ancestry fairly well tracked back to about 1745 in lower Augusta Co, VA when George Barber died.I have not been able to trace him back to Chester, but that was the main route to southwest VA in those days.Several years ago I wasted a lot of time trying to find a link to the Barbers in Onslow Co but they seem to be a different family.Oddly enough in the 1810 census there is an Absalom in Onslow and another inJohnston Co.The one in Onslow was listed as a member of the NC Militia ( 3rd regiment) in the War of 1812. Also I think Absalonm's father was Thomas, and Thomas' father was Richard ( who left a will in 1790 ).My information in very disorganized so none of this may be any help.We have an excellent geneslogy library in Raleigh NC, and also one in Johnston Co which is outstanding. If you have any links to Chester please let me know, and letme know if I can be of help to you.
