James Paul Barber 2nd cousin per DNA test - searching for birth family
Searching for my birth family. An Ancestry DNA Test linked me as a 2nd cousin to James Paul Barber, son of Newton Toliver Barber with 99% certainty. The DNA said I also have 14% Cherokee blood.Based on this, I believe Isaac Barber was my great or great great grandfather.I was born 5/19/1944 in Washington DC and adopted as an infant. The non-identifying data I received from Virginia said that my father was tall with dark hair, skin and eyes and a drafted private in the Marines. My mother was 20 with auburn/reddish hair and blue eyes and dimples and quite attractive. My father had offered to marry my mother but mother declined due to religious differences. They had dated only four or five times and based on backward calculations they would have been together around September of 1943.If anyone can shed some light on people they may have heard went to DC about this time that was in my lineage, it would be appreciated. If we find a close match, I can provide photos of my three children, 10 grandchildren and myself for family resemblance comparison.
