I am reposting this as I had forgotten to add some info.
I am searching for my birth family. An Ancestry DNA Test linked me as a 2nd cousin to James Paul Barber, son of Newton Toliver Barber with 99% certainty. The DNA said I also have 14% Cherokee blood. Based on this, I believe Isaac Barber was my great or great great grandfather. All I have found out was my father was from Texas and my mother was from Oklahoma.I was born 5/19/1944 in Washington DC and adopted as an infant. The non-identifying data I received from Virginia said that my father was tall with dark hair, skin and eyes and a drafted private in the Marines from Texas. My mother was 20 with auburn/reddish hair and blue eyes and dimples and quite attractive and from Oklahoma and worked in a defense office in DC. My father had offered to marry my mother but mother declined due to religious differences. They had dated only four or five times and based on backward calculations they would have been together around September of 1943. If you know of a family member that may have been drafted in the Marines around that timeā¦or a female who went to DC for a job around that time, can you please let me know, or let them know about me.My wife, kids and 10 grandkids would love to know who my birth family might be.I can also provide photos of my three children, 10 grandchildren and myself for family resemblance comparison. If we get to the point we are fairly close to what we think could be a close match, I would be willing to pay for a DNA test for the family member to see what kind of match we find. Please feel free to email, call or text me.Bob Dee, 813-293-3742, [email protected]
