Ah, Michael, I wish I could tell you what DNA Brinsley is, but this is autosomal DNA, not y-chrom.There are no Halop-groups or whatever associated with it.On FTDNA, you can see where exactly on one of the 21 chromosomes we all have you have a matching piece of this kind of autosomal DNA and how big it is and you can search their database to find others with the same DNA, but alas, it doesn't convert to the y-chrom language or world. If you took the FTDNA family finder test, we might be able to say to each other, "we match on chrome #16 with a .5cm piece that starts at marker X and ends at marker y...etc"It just doesn't correlate to the old world of Y-chrom or even mtdnt. The good thing is it isn't limited to male surname or female lines..it is gender neutral so there is a much wider number of possibilities.
Will look at your other post on Brinsley's parents and will share what I have found, which isn't much at all.
Also, if you are a member of FTDNA, you should consider joining the Barnes DNA project. There is at least one other known descendant of Brinsley in group 11.There are several others in that group, but hard to tell how they are related other than they are in group 11.The administrator of the FTDNA Barnes Surname group also has a website with more information in addition to the material on FTDNA Barnes Surname group.Unfortunately, I can't join the group because I don't have any Y-chroms...gender limited!
