Re: Charles Lorenzo Barney - b. 1852 in NY
Hi Peggy -
A couple of clarifications & additions to your information:
1. Of the children of George Washington Spencer and Ladorsky (Bellows) Barney (in addition to two who d. as infants):
a. Charles Lorenzo -- He was b. in Warren Co., Pa.; d. 1906 in Neb.
b. Harriet M. -- She md. George H. Cornell; she d. 24 May 1935 in Newport Beach, Cal. Three children (George Claude, Rev. Nina Berenice, Edith D.)
c. George Asa -- md. 1878, Cassia Bell Hudkins; d. 1920/30 of Garfield, Lancaster Co., Neb. Eight children (Mary L., Fred W., Elizabeth "Lizzie" N., Rosa M., Ethel F., Martha "Mattie" B., George Edward, Asa Allen)
d. Chauncey Ernest -- md. 11 Sept 1880, Alpha Lee Overton. He d. 12 Jan 1927 in Lincoln, Neb.; she d. there 11 May 1943; both bur. there in the Wyuka Cemetery. Six children (Lorena, Jessie Maude, Loretta May, Martha Pearl, George Parker, Ernest Lee "Earl")
2. Of the children of Charles Lorenzo and Elizabeth Olive (Frank) Barney:
a. Frank Devalance -- I have nothing to add. (Children are Dorothy G., b. 1906, and Ruth Josephine, b. 25 Oct 1909, md. William Kinney, d. 30 Oct 1993 in Anaheim, Cal.)
b. Eugene Spencer -- I have that his wife's name was Marie C. O'Hara. But I think my only source for the O'Hara surname is the famous baseball player, Rex Barney's book "Thank Youuuu," in which he says (p.8): "We were Irish Catholic on both sides--O'Haras and Barneys and McDoufeys."Rex really had no clue of his real Barney lineage, so I guess you can't put much stock in this quote? Both Eugene S. and Marie are bur. in Omaha in the St. Mary Magadalene Cemetery.Their four children are Beatrice, Bernice, Eugene Ted and Rex Edward.
c. Edna Cecelia -- You say that she md. Fred Peterson in April 1946.But I have that she md. 1904, Roy Hickey, and d. 14 Nov 1943 in Sacramento, Cal.Three children (Charles John, Roy LaVern, Eugene E.)
d. Warren L. -- I have that he and Mary had three children (Charles J., Warren L. Jr., Edna Lois)
e. Charles Augustus -- His 2nd wife is Morna Enochson, daughter of Holver & Melinda (Eberhart) Enochson. She was b. 29 Jan 1907 in Schuyler, Neb.; d. 16 Feb 2000 in Spokane, Wash. Charles A. is bur. in the Pines Cemetery in Opportunity, Spokane County.I suppose that Morna is bur. there too, but don't know it for a fact.Their children: Rev. Kay Dee, Paul Gene, Ann Louise.
